Nakeina S. Cane
Founding Attorney
& Domestic Relations Mediator
Nakeina S. Cane is a former Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with over 12 years of legal experience. Nakeina is an experienced trial attorney and has skillfully litigated cases during both court trials and trial by jury. Nakeina has a passion for helping others and problem-solving. She is a diligent litigator and committed to the profession.
Nakeina received her undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville in 2006. During her academic career, Nakeina was awarded the honors of Governor's Scholar, Woodford Porter Sr. Achiever Trustee Scholar, and Kentucky Legal Education Opportunity (KLEO) Graduate. Nakeina earned her law degree from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law in 2010. After graduating from law school, Nakeina worked in the private sector before being admitted to practice law in 2011.
Nakeina is an Adjunct Instructor at Indiana Wesleyan University, where she teaches in the areas of Legal Studies and Criminal Justice. Nakeina is a passionate advocate for the youth and has previously served on the Board of Directors for Reach for Youth, Inc. and Lutherwood Child and Family Services. Throughout her career, Nakeina has displayed a love for the community and a heart for problem-solving. Nakeina is an active participant in the local legal community and a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association, National Bar Association, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is also the Vice President of Programming for the Marion County Bar Association.
In 2021, Nakeina was featured in "Making Their Mark" cover story for Indiana SuperLawyers' Magazine. She was also honored to be selected as a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association's Bar Leader Series Class XVIII.
Aaliyah McGowan
Paralegal
Aaliyah McGowan is a dedicated paralegal with a strong academic foundation.
In just two years, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with Highest Honors from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, complemented by minors in Legal Studies and Communication.
Currently pursuing a Juris Doctorate at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, Aaliyah is a recipient of the Hibel Family Scholarship and the Phelps and Fara Scholarship.
Aaliyah is committed to community service. She has volunteered at Turning Point Domestic Violence Center, Coburn Place Safe Haven, and Emmanuel Church.
Additionally, she serves as a Guardian ad Litem for Kids’ Voice of Indiana, advocating for the best interests of children in the legal system.
